Birds are beautiful, no question. Some, however, are gorgeous. Its common to see the lilac-breasted roller throughout east and southern Africa. Often it will perch on the highest branch of a tree. But they are very skittish and fly away quickly as one approaches in a brilliant flash of color. Getting THE shot is a often question of luck. We got lucky here.
