About This Site
  • All of the images on this site were photographed by Alan Brigish.
  • The site contains a searchable database of individual images (see advanced search) and several categorized collections and travel documentaries.
  • All images shown on this site are available for sale and download. (See below)
  • We welcome inquiries to further distribute our images and to expand the use of our systems and database technology.
What is the Brigish Collection?
  • Photo-impressionism means taking liberties with "objective reality" to move beyond seeing into the realm of feeling. I try to capture and present momentsin time as impressions of enhanced reality.
  • A picture may be worth a thousand words, but that has never meant that the camera never lies. The camera always lies, it always did and always will. No two photographers would ever photograph the same scene the same way. There really is no such thing in photography, or any art, as "objective". All reality is subjective.
  • The collection has been sequenced so that each image is somehow linked to the next to make a coherent presentation of my observations, memories and fantasies of land, sea and light, people, patterns, animals and textures.
  • The collections can be viewed variously as travelogues or social mini-documentaries or simply collections of images illustrating a larger concept.

Image Size and Quality
  • Most of our images are available at 2240x1680 pixels. At 300 dpi (magazine quality), this translates to a maximum size of 7.46" x 5.6".
  • For photographs to hang on the wall, 150 dpi is sufficient for most people, which means you can comfortably print these images up to 14.9" x 11.2".
  • For use on the computer, where 72 dpi is the norm for most monitors, this yields an image of 31.1" x 23.3", obviously far larger than most average screens today.
  • For those images in our database that are 1280x960 pixels, we do not recommend printing larger than 8.5" x 6.4".
  • Contact us with any questions at info@brigish.com
Why should I signup/register?
  • When you sign up, you can use the lightbox feature to view your favorite images alongside each other and make a purchase if you wish. By giving us your email address you will be sure to receive news of updates to the site.
How can I see the images at full screen size?
  • By setting your screen resolution to 800x600, you will see images that almost fill your screen. Right click your mouse on your desktop and select "Settings". Change Screen Resolution to 800x600 and answer ok to all questions. Don't forget to reset your screen resolution to its previous setting when you have finished your viewing.
