Born and educated in South Africa, I have lived in the USA for over forty years. I share my year-round home and refuge in West Tisbury on Martha’s Vineyard with my golden retriever, Zach.

I earned a BS in Electronic Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Most of my earlier career was spent in publishing, online information, and computers. From 1997 to 2000 I was an owner of LA 411, Hollywood’s commercial production resource www.la411.com. I co-founded NY411, the New York version, www.newyork411.com.
After a twenty-five year career in applying information systems technology to online and electronic publishing services in the United States and Europe, my wife and I co-founded SIMBA Information Inc. www.simbanet.com. SIMBA publishes business newsletters, research reports and directories, hosts conferences, manages an online media information network, and provides consulting services on the global market for information publishing and distribution. SIMBA was sold to Cowles Media Company in 1996.
During the 80s, I co-founded Videolog Communications; a pioneering electronic publishing joint venture with Capital Cities/ABC, Inc. Videolog was the first working electronic yellow pages, catalog and online ordering service. During the 70s, I was an executive with National CSS Inc., a public computer services company providing online information and software services in the United States and Europe.
In 1996, I founded CAPEX (The Cape Program for Educational Excellence), a trust set up in Cape Town, South Africa to work with disadvantaged children.
